Bidwell Street
This began as no ordinary project. An architecturally intriguing Penthouse adorned in a gothic style was in need of a modern and bright refresh. Faced with the challenge of a three storey staircase which opened up to a living room below, the aim was to create privacy, yet allow for light to stream in.
Alexandra Interiors set upon designing a twenty-foot-high metal screen, decorative yet functional. A design was created that allowed light to filter through the water jet cut steel squares, meticulously placed to provide privacy to the front door whilst allowing light to stream into the stairwell. The inch wide squares create a pixelated pattern which when viewed create a beautiful ombre effect. Powder coated in a soft light grey, the screen allows light to be reflected back into the living room, brightening the main living space.
Customised millwork was then designed for this dramatic area. Working around two fold up bikes that needed concealing and a serious need for storage, highly intricate systems were put in place to satisfy these criteria. Wrapped in white oak veneer and characterised with metal wrapped edges and routed pulls, this high end modern millwork finished off the space to work harmoniously with its dramatic gothic surroundings.
